Spring Time and the Wood Element – by Heather Wisely L.Ac
In Chinese Medicine five element theory, spring time is related to the element of Wood. Wood represents movement and growth in the body. In the human body the wood element is expressed through the Liver and Gallbladder meridians. In this months newsletter our team has worked together to help you keep your Liver and Gallbladder happy and healthy through the spring season.
The Liver channel runs the inner most length of the leg . The muscles of this channel include the Gracilies and Extensor Hallucis Longus. The Gallbladder channel runs on the most lateral side of the body. All of the muscles that run down the sides of your body are affected by this channel. They include the Scalenes, External Obliques, Tensor Fascia Latae, Ilotibial Tract, and the Peroneus Tertius.
The Liver and Gallbladder channels resonate with the color green, and their brilliance shines through the eyes. When the wood element is healthy we find that we are decisive and take correct action. When they are distressed from toxicity, overwork and emotional stress we may find ourselves prone to overheating with signs such as irritability anger, migraines and high blood pressure. When the wood element is overtaxed or stagnant we may find symptoms of chronic pain and fatigue.
In this addition of our monthly newsletter our team has worked together to teach you how to keep your wood element happy and healthy through the spring season.
